Starting "Portrait" Photography

I've been interested in candid (portrait) photography since before I even got started doing photography. But, instead of pursuing that style, I found architecture so much easier to capture and thought I'd never change. About a year ago, I started taking my camera into NYC every time I visited, and street photography actually became a lot of fun. I was extremely anxious at first, but I knew I needed to get out of my comfort zone and diversify my work if I was ever going to improve my photography skills. Now that I have more experience in this area, I'm currently in the process of upgrading my camera equipment so I can maximize results. That being said, I won't be selling my wide angle lens because it's pretty much essential in any photographer's bag. It did take me a while to sift through all of the research material that is available. So, in this post, I just wanted to share a video that I found extremely helpful when deciding what lens I wanted to buy.

  1. You will have plenty of time in your next photography courses to work on your portraits. Make sure to post one of your own images with each post.
